Choosing whether to learn to play the piano by the conventional route of hiring an instructor to teach you or to invest in online piano lessons is a decision worth thinking through carefully. Hiring an instructor can be costly, not only for the lessons, but also for the books, gas, and your time needed in practicing.

If you or your child have never played the piano and want to learn to play the piano you may want to consider online piano lessons. Unlike with an instructor you can choose a program that suits your needs. You can practice and proceed at your pace. When you are ready to advance to the next level, there are many intermediate and advanced programs available.

Some of the Pros The Cons

As you can see there are many more pros to online piano lessons if you are just starting out learning to play the piano. After you become proficient or want to master the piano and become a concert pianist then you may want to advance to private lessons with an instructor.

Jo Ellen Peters is an avid music lover. She can play the piano, violin, clarinet and oboe. The piano was the first instrument she mastered, performing in many recitals as a child. She later took clarinet and oboe lessons from a renowned professor at the local university in the town she grew up in. The piano has remained her favorite musical instrument and she enjoys encouraging people to learn to play the piano through her website at http://www.aboutpianolessons.com.
